CONTEXT
The French NGO Eau et Vie (French for Water & Life) has created the social enterprise Shobar Jonno Pani Ltd. in 2010 and the NGO Water & Life Bangladesh in 2014.
The overall objective of E&V is to improve the living conditions of low income communities in depressed urban areas of Bangladesh based on water supply.
Thus, W&L and SJP work in close collaboration to implement the program. W&L ensures the implementation of the sanitation & social activities (Hygiene promotion, Fire-fighting, Solid waste management, social survey), while SJP sets up, maintains and operates the water supply network in Bhashantek.
Bhashantek water supply network is a pilot and innovative project: the scheme provides metered household connections to slum dwellers with reliable and good quality water, with full recovery of revenues by DWASA. This is the first time in Bangladeshi slums that water is provided through household connections and based on a social business model.
W&L is implementing a latrines rehabilitation pilot project that aims to improve the access to hygienic and sustainable toilets for the community.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
The main responsibility of the Site Foreman is to assist the Technical Project Manager to implement latrines rehabilitation project. He will also be involved in the improvement of the water network Phase 1 and in the construction of Phase 2.
Technical:
- To prepare drawings of the latrines facilities on AutoCAD (or any other drawing software) based on surveys.
- To supervise and assist the technical team for the installation/rehabilitation works of latrines.
- To map the project’s data under GIS software.
- To assist with the collection of quotations and purchases of materials.
- To prepare drawings of existing and planned drainage infrastructures.
- To assist during regular operation and maintenance of the existing water network.
- To give suggestions about how the water and sanitation installations can be improved with the available means.
- To stay open and polite towards the local community. To answer the questions they have about the project and to listen to their requests.
- When required, to assist with any other task that is needed and demanded by the supervisor.
Logistics:
- To provide support to the technical team on Stock Management issues.
- To make timely orders for the missing materials related to latrines project to ensure its availability on time.
- To maintain the tools/equipment in good working order and if necessary prepare an order for replacement.
Reporting:
- To prepare a monthly report about His/her duty and how the project is ongoing
- To write a technical report when installations/works are finalized.
Follow-up of technical activities
- To keep track on works and maintenance activities.
- To report difficulties to the higher management while encountered during works or maintenance activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor degree in civil engineering or WASH sector
- Experience on latrines construction.
- Sound knowledge of piped water network with accessories and tools.
- Knowledge about Water Quality Parameters and Water Treatment for drinking purposes.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in relevant field..
- Proven experience in the use of AutoCAD or any other drawing software.
- Experience in the use of GIS software would be a plus.
- Proven experience in Water Quality Tests.
Skills
- Proven computer skills (MS Word, Excel, drawing software)
- GPS manipulation, data collection and data encoding
- Proficient in both spoken and written English
- Strong team motivation and social work minded
- Ability to use water quality test (Wagtech kits)
