Educational Requirements:
- Masters or equivalent degree preferably Disaster Science and Management, Civil Engineering, Social Sciences or relevant field from any recognized institution.
- Professional qualification or Diploma in the respective field will be an added value.
Academic qualification may be relaxed for highly experienced candidates.

About Caritas Bangladesh:
Established by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Bangladesh (CBCB), Caritas Bangladesh (CB) is a national organization, operating since 1967 to carry out activities promoting integrated social welfare and development. Having its central office in Dhaka, CB has a wide presence across country through its eight Regional Offices in Barisal, Chittagong, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Sylhet. Mostly the interventions led by CB are concentrated in the remote rural areas of Bangladesh. Presently it covers 208 upazila (sub-districts). CB maintains the spirit of universality and openness to all people of Bangladesh irrespective of caste, creed and religion, but with preferential option for the poor and the marginalized including tribal.
CB is a member of the Caritas Internationalis, a confederation of 165 Caritas Member Organizations over 200 countries and territories.
Project Background:
The goal of the SAPLING/DFAP project funded by USAID is to increase food and nutrition security for poor and vulnerable households in five upazila in Bandarban District. This will be achieved by increasing availability, access and utilization of nutritious food, improving health and nutrition outcomes, and reducing vulnerability to shocks and stresses. Under this project Caritas in coordination with CRS and HKI will work directly with rural communities in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) region of Bangladesh, covering three out of five project upazila. Caritas team in coordination with HKI and CRS will also provide technical assistance to the partner team in the other two upazila.
Role & Job Summary:
The DRR & WASH Manager will lead and support activities pertaining to DRR and WASH in three upazilas where Caritas is directly implementing. Additionally, s/he will provide support to the Upazila DRR/WASH Officer in the other two upazila to guide team of other HKI partners in implementing the DRR/WASH activities. The DRR & WASH manager will work directly under the Program Manager in close coordination with DRR technical advisor-CRS and Program Manager-WASH to implement high quality activities approved in the project.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed implementation plan on DRR and WASH, based on approved project document,
- Work directly under Program Manager and in coordination with partners to support the organization/project by providing technical guidance on DRR and WASH for high quality implementation taking into consideration the technicalities such as Comprehensive community risk mapping and related preparedness measures, agro forestry, etc.
- Strengthen the linkages between government and local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) at all the levels and community structures (Union to District) charged with taking forward.
- Guide, facilitate and support team at all the levels to conduct BCC activities around WASH.
- Organize and supervise the implementation of project activities in coordination with partners.
- Liaison and coordinate with different stakeholders (including GOs & NGOs) to seek their support and to keep them updated on project progress/activities.
- Conduct field visit to assess quality of implementation and provide necessary suggestions for improvement.
- Conduct and facilitate training , workshop, seminar etc on DRR and WASH;
- Keep close communication and coordination with the colleagues of other component of the SAPLING project;
- Keep close communication with other projects of Caritas in CHT aims to obtain necessary support for project implementation.
- Support Program Manager to prepare quality report of the project activities
- Assist and cooperate for monitoring, research, advocacy etc. activities.
- Working experience in CHT especially at Bandarban Hill District.
- Working experience of providing technical assistance on DRR/WASH.
- Good understanding of technicalities involved in DRR, climate change, WASH etc.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English is required.
- Excellent computer and internet skills are required.
