wide variety of areas, including economic development and employment,
energy and the environment, and peace and security.
The Sustainable Energy for Development (SED) Program,
supported by the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources and
the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development
(BMZ) implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale
Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, is working to promote the use of renewable
energy, as well as efficient use of energy by building the capacities of
relevant stakeholders, promoting the new and customized renewable
energy and energy efficient technologies through successful piloting,
buliding the business case and improving the framework conditions
towards market uptake. Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development
Authority (SREDA) is SED’s government counterpart.
For the team of our SED programe, we seek applications from suitable candidates for position of
“Communications and Knowledge Management Officer ”.
Contract duration: 31 October 2018
Job Location: Dhaka at SED Programme
Office but requires occasional field visits to respective areas of
Bangladesh where SED Programme and its partners operate.
A. Responsibilities
The officer will
- Support the Programme in professional editing,
development of communication materials, produce periodic updates
and content generation for fliers, brochures, web hosting as well
as to arrange Stakeholder’s Workshop in consultation with
respective Advisors for different interventions whenever
necessary.
- Develop an overall communication strategy, tools,
products for each SED component as well as EnDev Programme to
increase the visibility of the programme’s interventions and
promote activities and results to different audiences. The
audiences are including but not limited to the public, program
beneficiaries, Bangladesh and German Government as well as
Development partners at national and international level.
In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:
B. Tasks
1. Core scope of tasks
Communication:
- Working as Communications and PR Focal Point for SED Programme
- Developing, write, edit content and conduct quality
checks for PR and communication material for SED and EnDev or its
partners in compliance with the corporate design / corporate
identity guidelines of GIZ
- Bringing out, document and release stories, information and survey results from project interventions and output
- Developing communication materials for relevant internal and external stakeholders as well as project beneficiaries
- Input and editing from communication perspective in documents and videos.
- Providing information and solve queries regarding basic corporate communication and design guidelines.
- Liaising with external communications providers (e.g. agencies, photographers, printers).
- Coordination and monitoring of ongoing internal/external communication activities.
- Collecting and organize the existing promotional
materials, publications and mentioning of SED in
national/international media.
- Maintaining a database/library of Photographs of SED Programme activities, events, beneficiaries etc.
- Liaising with the press, print and electronic media as per request of Programme/ Component Managers.
- Developing and maintain a programme specific press and PR stakeholder data base.
- Developing/Maintaining standard project presentations
- Responsible for organizing and coordination and outreach of internal/external events
- Co-moderating and document events, discussions, etc.
- Supporting the adaptation of the communications strategy and provide orientation to SED staffs
- Liaising with Corporate Communication and PR Unit of GIZ Country Office
Knowledge Management
- To oversee all online activity including social media to ensure right information flows to reach appropriate audiences.
- To work with the Programme Teams to ensure all
knowldge products are updated, readily available and in right order, as
and when necessary
- Actively works with the team to support and
strengthen the training, technical and logistical support to programme
teams and partners for KM tools, Knowledge Transfer and Exchange
(KTE) technologies, replication methodologies or other learning
material
- Documents workshop outputs, meeting decisions,
drafts and contributes to training materials, manuals guides,
presentations and other written documents.
- Researches knowledge management tools, trends, methods and best practices so as to continually improve the function
- Contract Management as per standard GIZ guideline of
any communication and knowledge management related products and
services.
The Officer will also:
- Work collaboratively with M&E team so that intervention outputs are properly captured and documented
- Supports efforts to ensure the cross cutting themes are integrated into knowledge management.
- Performs any other reasonable duties and tasks as requested by the Programme Coordinator.
Other duties/additional tasks
- Consults routinely with M&E Team as well as the
component leaders responsible for implementing the interventions
to ensure a continuous flow of information.
- Keep constant communication with other units of SED
and GIZ Country Office to carry out any administrative steps
derived from the above described tasks.
C. Required Entry Qualifications and Competencies
Formal Education
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public
Relations, Journalism or any related field from a well reputed
university from home or abroad. MBA and/or Master’s degree in a
related field will be an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of development issues in the global context as well as Bangladesh context
Professional Experience
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of professional working experience
- At least 1 year of experience in a similar position
- Similar experience in an international organisation will be given preference
- Some Prior exposure to energy sector of Bangladesh will add value.
Further Knowledge / Skills
- A strong understanding and experience of working in Information Technology, websites and online mediums
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Knowledge of graphic design software is an asset
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to successfully navigate a politically sensitive environment
- Experience to work with a multi-disciplinary team in a multi-cultural environment
- Good research, record keeping and analytical skills
Language skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Bangla
- Fluency in German is an asset
