Communications Officer, Bangladesh


Location : Dhaka with possible visits to field locations
Reports To : Head of Portfolio and Quality, South Asia
Purpose : Lead the corporate communications (internal and external) of Swisscontact Bangladesh and two specific projects, along with supporting the corporate communication of the South Asia Region.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Country Corporate Communication
  • Conceptualise and design Country Communication strategy and Communation plan for the country office
  • Produce communication services (including materials and tools) targeting diverse internal and external audience, with special focus on new media, and enhance Swisscontact’s social media engagement and brand awareness
  • Develop and execute various internal communication campaigns for raising staff awareness on various developmnet issues and organisational policies
  • Produce communication material for the corporate website and social media sites and ensure all the communication materials are propoerly branded
  • Coordinate Regional Communication Working Group and ensure regional office units and projects are compliant with Swisscontact Corporate Communication guideline
  • Support other country offices in South Asia Region in developing Corporate Communication materials
  • Lead on organising key events in Bangladesh and support other country offices in the region in organising events
  • Maintain documentation management system (hard copy and on network).
Project specific communication
  • Design and execute Communication Strategy and Communication guideline for particular projects in complaince with donor and Swisscontact requirements
  • Develop case studies and various communication tools following the project mandate and ensure that the communication materials are distributed and braodcasted following the donor approved communication plan
  • Support project managers in project implementation through strategic use of communication tools and techniques.
Skills and Experience
The individual must conform to the following qualifications:
  • Passionate and commited about developing career in development and social communication
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science; Mass Communication; Media or marketing.
  • At least 3 - 5 years of professional work experience in designing and executing communication tool, campaign activities, experience of working in communication agency will be an added advantage.
  • Expertise in producing communication material using various communication and visual software, particularly for social media
  • Workable prodcution and technical knowledge of audio visual communication and print material
  • Advanced communication skill in both English and Bangla (verbal and written)
  • Excellent computer literacy in Windows Office programs (especially Word)
  • Ability to work in a team to deliver high quality communication material within deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
  • Willing and able to travel within and outside Bangladesh
Physical Demands
Field visits may be necessary; as such, it is expected that the incumbent is willing and able to take part in such activities as and when needed and sometimes within short notice.
